Class Policies

  Launch Pad Christian Release Time

Launch Pad Christian Release Time is a voluntary class. Launch Pad Release Time has the attitude that we are a servant to the students, and will cooperate with all the schools policies.  Our goal is to teach the Bible in a practical and meaningful way.  As a student of this class you have agreed to participate and cooperate with the class curriculum.

 Permission Slip Required

You and your parents must sign a permission slip stating your desire to be in the Launch Pad Release Time class each semester.  This will need to be returned to Launch Pad Release Time teacher by the end of the first 11 days of class.  A copy will be given to the school counseling office.

Below are a few policies that are consistent with your school and will be upheld at your local Launch Pad site.

 1.  Attendance

a. Each day attendance will be taken and recorded. It is a privilege to attend Launch Pad Release Time. It is not a study hall, nap time, PE class or babysitting service.  If a problem with the student’s attendance develops it will be discussed in the following procedure:
i.  First, with the student. If skipping class persists
?

ii.  Then parents will be contacted. If this does not solve the problem ?

iii.  A final warning will be given, and another skip will mean expulsion from class and  the student will return to their school for placement at the school’s discretion.

iv. SPECIAL NOTICE:  After nine absences, a student, with their parent or guardian, will need to petition to the Launch Pad Release Time board, in person, to be able to remain in class.  If this petition is not made within two days of the student being informed of the ninth absence, the student is automatically expelled from Launch Pad Release Time.  (A written notice will be given to the student after each absence beginning with the sixth.)

 2. Discipline Procedures

a. A basic principle for discipline is found in Matthew 18:15-17.  It is outlined here as our procedure for dealing with classroom problem.

i. The first time a problem exists in the class the student will be spoken to and asked to change behavior.

ii.  After that a teacher/student conference will take place.

iii. If the problem persists, the teacher will invite the student and his/her parents to have a conference.

iv.  If this does not solve the situation, the student could be asked to leave the class for the remainder of the semester or school year.

b.  Launch Pad Release Time will follow your schools Student Handbook for rules and guidelines as far as they pertain to the Launch Pad Non Denominational Release Time program.

c.  A discipline form will be used to note and track any needed discipline actions.

 3.  School Calendar

a. We will follow the same class schedule as your school.  Classes will be held on the same days that MHS has classes, and observe the same holidays.  We will follow their daily schedule including adjustments for short days, tests, and assemblies.

4.  Emergencies

a. The school will have the phone number of the Launch Pad Release Time classroom.  In case   of emergencies, they may either phone or send an office aid with a note for the student.

Launch Pad Christian Release Time Classroom Procedures

 1.  Attendance/Grade book – Each day we will begin with taking attendance.  (This is a non-credit class,  but we will have a report card at the end of each quarter to show the student’s cooperation and  learning level.)

4. Homework – Even though there will be no “assigned homework”, that does not mean that you will  not be asked to learn and study.  There may be times that the student is asked to read or write  something and bring it to class the next day.  This is voluntary, but will contribute to a better  class.

5. Notebooks – Each student will have a notebook.  There will be a place in the classroom for you to  keep your notebook so you will have it available each day.  You are allowed to take it home;  however, you are responsible to have it in class each day.

6.  Lesson Time – There will be several methods of sharing the lesson:

a. Handouts – You will receive numerous handouts during the class.  You are expected to    complete them and place them and place them in your notebook.

b.  DVD, Powerpoint Presentations, etc. – When these are being used you will be expected to take notes.

c. Tests – From time to time a test will be given.  It will be used for the grade, and to evaluate   the teaching and learning taking place in the class.

d. Field trips and special activities – There may be times during the year that we will take field   trips and do special activities.  When this is done, both the school and the student’s    parents will be notified and written permission will be needed from both.

e.  Guest speakers – You may be asked to take notes during a guest speaker’s presentation to be   included in your notebook.

7.  Food and drink in the classroom – Food and drink are not allowed in the classroom, except for special occasions.

8.  If at all possible, each student will have their own Bible.  The Bible can remain in the classroom in  the student’s “box”.  It is the responsibility of each student to have their Bible and notebook each day  in class.
