Wall Fall - September 2011

The Centennial Launch Pad has 25 students in class period 3A with 15 different faith situations/churches being represented. The teaching team, like most LP's, is made up of volunteers representing three different church bodies. We are diverse. This is the kingdom come magic of Launch Pad Ministries: No relational, doctrinal or superficial walls between us. We let those fall down...We let Jesus dismantle our lives with his messy grace and enter into the beauty of Christ-centered community with one goal in mind: discipling students, during the school day. Beginning my third year of teaching at the LP,  I'm still mesmerized by how cool it is Jesus' Spirit has paved a way and provided access for teens to be equipped with his Way, Truth, and Life in the context of public education. Rich, on our teaching team, has taught the class a cool phrase: "Yesu-Yuan." This is an English transliteration from the Cantonese bible for the term "Christian." Literally translated, Yesu-Yuan, means "Jesus-Man." This is who we are to be to each other as Christ-followers and in our world with Jesus' message of hope: "Yesu-Yuan." Our students have latched onto this phrase, call out to each other on campus with it, and have imported it into their vocab. Cool. Simple. Unifying. Jesus-People. The walls come down...

Speaking of walls...the office space LP rents for the Centennial class has three rooms but none are spacious enough to fit 25 students without rubbing elbows. Soon, one of the walls is coming down and we are gonna have some more room to breathe...wall fall. Ephesians 2:14-15 (MSG) Kenny Wade
